A baby boy has been found with suspicious critical injuries at a home in Central Queensland.
Emergency crews found the 8-month-old unresponsive after being called to a home on Wilson Street in New Auckland on Saturday, May 30.
The infant was immediately rushed to Gladstone Hospital however due to the severity of his injuries, the youngster was flown to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.
Police say he has since undergone multiple surgeries, however his current condition has not been confirmed at this stage.
Detectives from the Child Trauma Unit and Gladstone Child Protection Investigation Unit are now piecing together a timeline of events and are seeking public assistance to fully understand the circumstances leading up to the baby boy’s hospitalisation.
“In particular, investigators would like to speak with anyone that has had contact with the family or the child over the course of his life or knowledge that may assist,” Qld Police said in a statement on Thursday morning.
Investigations are ongoing.
